Carol has thirteen years of experience as a leader and manager of integrated environmental research, including ten years with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and three years leading Australia’s national water research program. From 2003 to 2009, she served as the Director of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD). As a member of the faculty of the University of Georgia she taught ecology and environmental studies. She is the recipient of the US Department of Interior Superior Service Award, Georgia Tech’s Ivan Allen Legacy Award, and was twice named by Georgia Trend as one of Georgia’s 100 most influential leaders in business, politics, government, science and education. Since she holds degrees from Georgia Tech (BS Health Systems Engineering), University of South Carolina (MS Biology), and University of Georgia (PhD Ecology), one of her favorite college football teams almost always wins.
